Shocking: Reasons Why Samson Kasumba Was Arrested and Later Released on Police Bond.

Renowned NBS Television news anchor Samson Kasumba was Arrested on Monday by security personel and released on Police Bond on Tuesday evening yesterday.

Kasumba who anchors several bulletins and hosts some shows on the Kamwokya based NBS television was arrested on his way back home from anchoring the 9pm news on Monday, according to a statement by NBS television on social media.

The station says he is detained at Kiira Road Police Station.

“Our news anchor and show host Samson Kasumba was last night arrested and is being detained at Kiira Road Police Station, Samson was arrested on his way home shortly after the NBS LiveAt9 bulletin (evening bulletin). We are doing our best to engage all relevant stakeholders as the cause of his arrest is unknown” reads the statement by NBS television.

However, Police Spokesperson Fred Enanga told a reliable source to this website that Kasumba was arrested over subversive activities and confirmed that he is being held at Kiira Police station.

“Our Electoral and Political Offences Department took interest in Kasumba following information about subversive activities he is involved in. The arrest is not related to his media work. A search is being conducted by the Criminal Investigations Department at the places where he was involved in those subversive activities,” Enanga said.

Asked what subversive activities Kasumba was involved in, the police spokesperson he could not divulge more information at the time of reporting.

The Good news came through from NBS Television on Tuesday, yesterday’s evening confirming how Samson Kasumba has been released from Kiira Road Police Station where he spent 24 hours under questioning.

Apparently, the Uganda Editors’ Guild called for a quick and transparent investigation into matters that led to the arrest of Mr. Samson Kasumba.
